Carter grew up in southeastern New Mexico in the small town of Lovington. Living in the country, he never missed an opportunity to roam the expansive land hunting wildlife, enjoy the outdoors and explore remote areas. He graduated from Angelo State University, obtained his teaching certificate from Texas Tech University and went on to have a successful teaching and coaching career in both New Mexico and Texas. Before joining San Saba Realty in 2020, Carter was involved in the residential construction and remodeling industry in the Austin area, but decided it was time to make a career change. That's when he approached Gene Stewart and was fortunate to find a new work-home with San Saba Realty!
In 2023, Carter, along with Cindy Prater purchased the business from Gene Stewart and are now the co-owners of San Saba Realty. In October of 2024 Carter received his Texas Brokers License and is currently active as an Associate Broker with San Saba Realty.
Carter and his family own a ranch in western Mills County where they enjoy enjoy fishing, hunting and hosting their friends and family. His wife of 25 years, Talley, is a partner with the law firm Metcalfe, Wolff, Stuart and Williams, LLP in Austin where she specializes in commercial real estate law. Carter and Talley have two children. A son, Benton and a daughter, Kendall.
